One of Hollywood’s busiest and most successful publicists, Charles Sherman has fashioned a career based on his life-long love of film and television and the performers who shine on stage, screen and television.  A native New Yorker, he attended Penn State University and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film and Communications.

Moving out to Los Angeles in the early 1980s, Sherman began to promote independent films by developing relationships with such companies as Studio News Service, Westgate Productions and Smart Egg Pictures.  He then became Director of Advertising and Publicity for special effects maestro Doug Trumbull’s Showscan Corporation, which, like Imax today, was turning movie theaters into multi-dimensional audience thrill rides.

In 1990, Sherman began a twelve-year association as Media Relations Director with the #1 rated daytime soap opera, The Young and the Restless.  In addition to the day-to-day responsibilities of pitching and servicing national media outlets, Sherman coordinated cover shoots for magazine stories, oversaw the execution of press releases and personal publicity for various cast members and implemented national publicity campaigns for the Daytime Emmy Awards, Writers Guild Awards, Directors Guild Awards, as well as many other ceremonies and festivals.  He also arranged for talent to attend the Monte Carlo Television Festival, as well as other awards shows and coordinated camera crews from Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood and Extra.

In 2002, he formed Charles Sherman Public Relations, a multi-service publicity company that represents film and television production companies, producers, and actors.  Some of his long-term clients include: seven-time Emmy Award-winner and five-time Golden Globe winner Ed Asner; four-time Golden Globe nominee and Emmy Award-winner Armand Assante; two-time Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Corbin Bernsen; former James Bond George Lazenby; soap opera legend and Daytime Emmy winner Eric Braeden; The Young and the Restless’ Daytime Emmy winner Sharon Case; as well as two-time Daytime Emmy award winner Jess Walton; and two-time Daytime Emmy nominee Eileen Davidson.

Sherman also represents Vince Van Patten, who hosts the Fox Sports Net series, The World Poker Tour; motion picture producer, actor and author, Tom Malloy; Madtv and Reno 911! actress Jill Michele-Melean; motion picture actress Vail Bloom, who also starred on The Young and the Restless; actress Nathalie Fay of Due Date and The Hangover ; Zack Silva of Terriers; and others.

On the unit publicity front, Sherman has supervised publicity on three films for Maya Entertainment, including The Exodus of Charlie Wright, Baines and The Line; the vampire thriller, The Bleeding; the claustrophobic thriller, The Chaos Experiment; five films for producer/actor Corbin Bernsen, including 25 Hill, Rust, Dead Air, Donna on Demand and Carpool Guy; actor/producer Eric Braeden’s western revenge thriller; The Man Who Came Back; Drac Studios’ family comedy, Monster Mutt; three films from Smart Egg Pictures, including Double Revenge, Spaced Invaders and Private War and others.

Today, Charles Sherman is on the front line of the multi-dimensional media world, pitching clients to national television, print and Internet outlets, coordinating red carpet appearances at national movie premieres and festivals, and carefully guiding the media profile for many veteran, as well as up-and-coming young actors and performers.

Sherman still projects the youthful exuberance that brought him to Hollywood in the first place, he still loves the world of movies and television and there is no executive in modern entertainment public relations who cares more about the clients he represents.
